It's no secret that Tourism Kamloops has been very open to the idea of online videos as a means of advertising the wonderful mountain biking their city has to offer. They have already brought you video content of the Kamloops Bike Ranch and now they are back again, this time showcasing some of the all mountain, cross country, and hiking trails that Kamloops has to offer. Their first focus for the all mountain crowd is Kenna Cartwright Park. Kenna Cartwright is the largest municipal park in the entire province of British Columbia, and features 36 active trails many of which offer stunning views of Kamloops and the surrounding area. Along with being very large in size, Kenna Cartwright Park is one of the most accessible trail areas around, located within the City of Kamloops and having multiple points of access which all include parking lots. Benches, bathrooms, and refuge receptacles are also available throughout the park for your convenience.

This video features Kelly Brooks aboard his Banshee Spitfire riding many of the different trails within the park. Kelly frequents the park often and gives us some insight about what you can expect to find within the park boundaries.

Its great to see cities acknowledging that mountain biking is great for tourism, which hopefully means more funding and more legal trails for locals, you can never have to many trails.

Loops FTW! I had a few days out there on a Tour de BC this summer, rode Rio with Monique, stayed at DropInns Bed & Breakfast [check it on FBook], rode a bunch of quasi-legal trail and had a great time. Looking forward to ride/ride road trip in March - skinning Rogers Pass and riding the Loops!

AM/XC/FR/DH/DJ/4X/EN/FAP it's all riding...

So much back and forth! I'd say this video did its job. I've driven past Kenna-Cartwright many times and often wandered what it had to offer and now I know. Looks like a good place to check out trails, roadtrip from the rainy coast in shoulder season, stay in Kamloops, ride some chill trails and spend some of those tourist dollars. So thanks to Tourism Kamloops and thanks to LoneWolf for shooting the video that showed me what the Loops had to offer. Maybe I will pick up Brule and Levy and we will go 29ering on these trails!!

Looks like a fun place. But I love how XC is just being relabeled AM in so many places.

Had to answer the question about the difference between XC and AM to some customers at the bike shop and all that came to my my mind was: AM is when you ride for the epicness of the descent to come and ride stuff down that you can't ride up.

flag bubbaleech (Nov 23, 2011 at 23:06)
AM riding is what Yeti said, when a rider climbs for necessity but lives for descent.

I imagine AM to be the same but also to add is there is much more hairy stuff in AM.. like frequent rocky and really rooted sections. XC to me is smooth riding cardio burning trails. Basically in AM your going over some shit.

Don't forget the "Trail" riding category too. Is that gnarly XC or soft AM? Then there's aggressive trail riding etc etc... Wink

I think Trail bikes include XC and AM. Park bikes include DH and FR

Well I remember when there was a post about rocky mountain's lastest XC rig with a video of people shredding nasty trails and people were like "omg thats not xc that's dh" and some replied that that's how their average XC trails look like.

I guess it depends on where you come from. The dh trails you see in some vods are beginner tracks compared to some of the stuff we have around here. To each his own riding spot/style I guess.

apparently kamloops is where the most sports tournaments happen a year, hence tournament capital. their pool is called the tcc, kinda weird

Yes, Kamloops has been dubbed the tournament capital due to all of the sporting events it hosts every year. TCC, stands for Tournament Capital Centre, which includes a Canada games quality pool, several basketball courts, 2 running tracks, soccer/football fields, and gym. It also houses several offices for city employees, and a physiotherapy centre. Think of it as your one stop shop for all things sports.
