Lone Wolf Productions - 3 Days With Garett Buehler

During late September I received an email from Garett Buehler asking me if I wanted to hook up with him and shoot another Lone Wolf Productions section this year. After having the pleasure of working with him last year on two separate sections (both of which were well received by everyone here at Pinkbike), I was excited to get to work on something new with better production value than last year. Garett and I decided that we would like to shoot this section as a bonus rider's segment for Adidas Eyewear seeing as they have been both of our longest running sponsors and have always supported us in all our ventures. Plus they make a killer product!

Garett had just shot a webedit in Vancouver and wanted to get back to Kamloops to hit some big mountain style jumps. After hearing this, I got to work as quickly as I could on some new lines for him to ride. I had a few areas in which I had been thinking of building and luckily they worked out great. I was looking for lines that would help showcase Garetts style which also had epic scenery. Strangely, the two lines I ended up creating were polar oposits. One was a drop with a lush backdrop of the Thompson river, and the farmland along its banks, while the other was a curving line with a big hip that was in the middle of an old forest fire zone. The open terrain spotted with the chared remains of the trees gave off a very errie feeling, and was an easy place to build. After Garett took a look and did some tweeking to get the jumps just the way he liked them he proceded to shred the lines as though he had ridden them for years.

I asked Garett what he thought of the trip and here is what he had to say:

I always love going to Kamloops to ride, it's so much different than anywhere else in British Columbia. Matt had built some lines for this section so we went and checked those out. The first spot we went to was this cliff drop; it flowed so well, and felt really cool to ride. There was a really tech corner right before the take off which you had to nail in order to make the gap. The drop then lead into a cool bermed out wallride at the end of the run out. Unfortunately, when I tried to 3 it, I didn't quite pull it around enough, and I smacked down hard cutting just beside my eye. I was lucky for my Adidas ID2 Goggles, for I surely would have done some real damage to my eye without them! Matt had also built this really cool line which snipped through 2 trees, 1 beside the take off and the other right beside where you would be landing. The tranny was bowled out like a skate park and you had to snipe it in to the pocket. It was so much fun to ridel After that we hit up Brad's trail and a few other spots around town to wrap things up, and ended up with a pretty fun section. After 3 days of abuse, but good times, We called it a wrap! Thanks Matt for the hard work and fun lines! - Garett Buehler

Thank you to TNL photography for coming out to shoot in the rain and almost ruining your cameras. Check their site for other amazing images.

What's up with Knolly bikes? I see a lot of big names using them on films and what not, but I rarely see an article or review about them anywhere.

adidas may make some quality products, but that picture of your eye isn't the best advertising for their goggles...

but bloody hell, talk about stoked to go and ride now!!!

Having had the misfortune to have had my pedal attack my eye twice this year and having the eyewear I was using save my eye receiving only minor cuts. I think it is great advertising for protective gear.

Fidorc80 is right, I was there, and he could have lost his eye if he hadn't been wearing a good pair of goggles

flag mtnbykr05 (Oct 26, 2011 at 7:48)
Suntour for next year is coming out with a 38mm dual crown fork at the Boxxer weight. Gully and Buehler have been riding them for the past year or so.

flag muchentuchen (Oct 28, 2011 at 22:37)
Doerfling and Buehler use 888s because Suntour does not have a long travel dual crown yet.
